Top Benefits of Joining a Travel Club: Connect, Share, and Explore
Meetup or Facebook groups can be fun, because there is often a shared interest among the people who join.
For a Travel Club, the obvious shared interest is travel (duh!). But the key benefits for participating in a Travel Club are priceless: making new friends, sharing new experiences, and taking fun trips with people who are just like you.
Foraging New Friendships
I am working on reinvigorating our Travel Club, but with a new theme… Women, Wine and Wander. This is a Travel Club for retired women (or those close to it) who are young at heart. Our group will consist of women who are single, married, and widowed — it really doesn’t matter.
Besides being travel enthusiasts, these women will be foodies, wine (and alcohol) lovers, and they will be local to Orange County and Long Beach. They will be women who are looking to meet other like-minded women and make new friends.
We will have fun activities during the day and during the week because, well… we can, and we have the time. We will have some events in the evenings as well, like wine dinners and happy hours. And in person events are the best way to get to know someone — especially if you’re going to be traveling with them!
Sharing New Experiences
We will have lunch at the latest new restaurants (recommendations are encouraged), go wine tasting to try new wines, meet and mingle at happy hour, and more. The beauty of being retired (so I am told!), is that the days of the week don’t matter! No, I’m not retired yet, but being a small business owner provides much flexibility.
Fun Adventures
Eventually, we will plan fun adventures focused on food, wine, and culture, because what woman doesn’t love time with her girlfriends? We will keep the groups small so that we can enjoy the experiences and share awe-inspiring adventures. We can venture to Solvang, Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, or Sonoma for fun weekend trips. When we’re ready, we can venture further away (girls trip to Italy for a Cooking and Wine Adventure, anyone?)!
We can decide as a group if we want a trip to be for women only or include the men in our lives. And each trip can be decided by the members that want to go. This group will be formed by the women in it, evolving as we grow, and we’ll look for other group leaders to encourage a number of varied activities.
