Nature’s Grand Finale: Why You Need An Alaska Cruise on Your Bucket List Now

Calling all you outdoor enthusiasts! We have been to Alaska twice and we can’t wait to go again.

There is so much to see and do, and if you think you’ve seen all you need to see, we recommend going on a smaller ship.

Do you have dreams of going to Alaska? For you first timers, you need to make this a priority, you need to include Denali, and you need to plan ahead! You won’t regret it.

The Alaska season sells out early these days. Especially if you want a suite or a small ship.

We want to tell you of the six most significant reasons you should cruise to The Last Frontier sooner rather than later.

1. You decide which cruise line to take.

Sailing in Alaska extends from the middle of May to mid-September. During these months, you won't likely see a shortage of cruise line options.

Choose a cruise line that’s been sailing to Alaska a long time, like Holland America or Princess. Or you may want to go on a luxury or an expedition-style cruise if you like to travel in style and have the resources.

2. Alaska is desirable to people of all ages and tends to be high up on many bucket lists.

Many multi-generational families come here each year to enjoy the beauty of the great state and the broad scope of activities and events. It’s great for couples too, and if you’re retired, you may want to extend your stay.

3. The wildlife is absolutely out of this world.

When traveling to Alaska by cruise ship, don't be surprised to spot bears hunting for fish, whales, eagles, and several other beautiful creatures in the ports of call.

4. Dare to go dog sledding?

You may have to take a helicopter ride to get into the mountains first.

This could be one thrilling adventure. Best of all, you get to hang with sweet huskies all day.

5. Go on a land tour before or after your cruise.

We recommend doing the land tour as a pre-cruise, so you have the more relaxing part of the trip in the second half.

Hike through Denali National Park and take the Tundra Wilderness Tour to look for moose and caribou walking down the road, black and grizzly bears roaming, Dall sheep and wolves too. The tour will take you deep into the park so don’t miss it.

6. Sadly, Alaska won't be as charming as it is now, forever.

Right now, you can see the nation in all of its iconic glory.

From lush forests to enormous glaciers, there is so much to admire before global warming changes it even more.
